M85045| MIL-PRF-85045 | Fiber Optic Shipboard Cable
M85045| MIL-PRF-85045 fiber optic shipboard cable is intended to be a light weight low fire hazard, cable specification suitable for interconnect naval shipboard applications. Designed to provide superior optical performance, these flexible cables are manufactured with a tight buffered, water-blocked construction with either a thermoplastic or a cross-linked, thermoset low smoke, zero-halogen (LSZH) outer jacket.

Utilized on naval systems employing optical transmission, the MIL-PRF-85045 fiber optic is offered in one, four, and eight fiber configurations. You will often find a letter call out for psi pressures with N for cables reaching pressures up to 300psi and P for cables rated for pressures up to 1,100psi. For example, the part number MIL-C-85045/18-02P is a 4-fiber shipboard cable rated up to 1,000 psi.
If the M85045 fiber optic cable is constructed with a thermoplastic low smoke, zero-halogen (LSZH) jacket then the cable is chemical, fungus, fluid, and abrasion resistant, while the M85045 cables built with cross-linked, thermoset low smoke, zero-halogen (LSZH) jackets are rugged for improved thermal aging and fluid resistance with enhanced flexibility at extreme bitter cold temperatures.
