All Things HELI-EXPO 2020 – Innovations, Technology, and Meetings!

Wow! HAI HELI-EXPO 2020 was one for the books! The four-day event in Anaheim, California was packed with innovative technology, and lots of great conversation centered around the rotorcraft industry. Person after person approached the booth to discuss the wide range of products displayed on the WireMasters’ harness board—with much excitement toward the news of our improved connector offering.

Exhibits covering more than 300,000 square feet were filled with attendees from across the globe – including more than 650 exhibitors. The future of vertical lift transportation seemed to be a broad topic of discussion with Thales showcasing its FlytX avionics suite, Airbus's Vahana vehicle (picture left), the evolving eVTOL revolution, and Bell Textron Inc., additions of two new equipment enhancements - The Garmin G1000H NXi Flight Deck and Health Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) systems.

Bell is the first OEM to certify a HUMS for a light single-engine aircraft. The monitoring covers the drive system, engine, rotors, and it provides estimates of remaining useful life to help bring predictability to maintenance needs. The collective data will allow customers’ aircraft to communicate how it is performing, provide historical trends/analysis and detailed health vitals on core components.

The highlights of all shows are having face-to-face meetings with our customers and other industry professionals. An experience we were so humbled by was the honor of meeting Sergei Sikorsky(pictured left), the son of Igor Sikorsky - founder of Sikorsky Aviation, who also designed the first viable helicopter in 1939, the Vought-Sikorsky VS-300.

We were sad to see this years' show end, but we already are thinking about what we can bring to Heli-Expo 2021 March 22-25th in New Orleans – bring on the beignets!
